Our relationship with our parents and carers are extremely important to us, and we aim to make you feel relaxed, reassured and extremely happy with the service we provide, We offer parents a six to eight week settling in process for new parents and children.

 

This enables families to build a relationship with the nursery prior to your child actually starting at the nursery. We provide termly parents evenings so we can discuss your child’s learning journey with parents/carers.

 

We also provide parents weekly updates on their child’s progress. Check in with our parents page to see the latest news and read our policies and procedures.

Partnership with Parents

No one knows your child better than you, so our partnership with parents is integral to our way of working. We ensure you have the time to discuss your child’s individual needs and progress with their appointed key person. However, our ‘open-door’ policy means that parents are welcome to come and speak to us at any time.
We promote home learning and encourage parents to participate and contribute to their child’s development, sharing information on a daily basis. Working in partnership with parents and/or carers is central to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS 2021). Consulting parents about children’s early experiences helps staff plan for effective learning at the nursery, and helps them support parents in continuing their children’s learning development at home.

Settling In

Your first settling in sessions will give you and your child an opportunity to get to know your child’s Key Person and explore the environment. It is so important for the key person and parents to share regular information including updates about new interests and new skills to ensure we are supporting your child at nursery. Settling sessions allow your child to gradually transition into their room at a pace suitable for both children and parents.

The first session we set up your child’s file and this is where we exchange all the important information, we also ask you to bring in the detailed birth certificate and red book. After this first session we then arrange a pattern of settling sessions, we generally offer a six to eight week settling in process However each child is different so settling can vary from child to child. This enables families to build a relationship with the nursery prior to your child actually starting at the nursery.
